Corrections Policy
Our standard: If we get something wrong, we fix it fast—and we say so plainly. Accuracy, transparency, accountability.
What we correct
-
Factual errors: names, numbers, dates, titles, locations, quotations, photo/video captions.
-
Material omissions that change meaning or context.
-
Audio/Video misstatements in shows, transcripts, captions, graphics, or lower thirds.
-
We also correct typos when they affect meaning. Cosmetic typos that don’t change meaning may be silently cleaned in routine edits.
How to request a correction
-
Email: Karen@KarenHartleyNagle.com with the subject “Correction Request”.
-
Include the URL, the exact passage, what you believe is wrong, and any documentation.
Our review timeline
-
Acknowledge within 1 business day.
-
Investigate promptly; most corrections are resolved within 72 hours.
-
Complex matters (legal, multi-source) may take up to 7 days; we’ll update you on status.
How we label changes
-
Correction: We published an error. We state what it was and what’s now correct.
-
Clarification: Wording was accurate but could be clearer; we refine and note it.
-
Update: New facts after publication; we time-stamp the addition.
-
Editor’s Note: Context the audience needs (ethics, methodology, conflicts).
-
Retraction: In rare cases where a core claim cannot be supported; we remove or replace and explain why.
Where corrections appear
-
On-page:
-
Material errors: a correction note near the top of the page, time-stamped.
-
Limited errors: a note at the bottom of the page, time-stamped.
-
-
Corrections Log: A public, chronological log linked in the footer (headline, URL, what changed, time stamp).
-
Social platforms: We post an amended item and reply/annotate the original thread with the correction; we pin when appropriate.
-
Audio/Video:
-
Show notes updated with a clear correction line and time-code.
-
Major errors: corrected version is re-uploaded; the original is labeled and linked to the fix.
-
Sourcing & fairness
-
We protect confidential sources while correcting the record.
-
If a subject disputes our correction decision, they may request a brief Right of Reply; we’ll publish it or link to it when it advances clarity.
Takedowns
-
We do not remove accurate reporting. Content may be temporarily withheld only for legal, safety, or court-ordered reasons—documented by an Editor’s Note.
Escalation
-
If you believe a correction was mishandled, email Karen@KarenHartleyNagle.com with the subject “Corrections Appeal”. Appeals go to the Publisher & Editor.
Accessibility & Accommodations Policy
Our standard: Truth is only truth if people can reach it. We design for inclusion first.
Commitment
-
We are working to meet WCAG 2.2 AA across The Truthline Network’s web, audio, and video properties.
-
We audit quarterly and fix issues as we find them.
Design & content standards
-
Contrast & color: High-contrast palette; no meaning conveyed by color alone.
-
Type & layout: Resizable text, logical headings, generous line height, skip-to-content links.
-
Keyboard: Full keyboard navigation; visible focus states on interactive elements.
-
Images & charts: Descriptive alt text; data tables with headers; downloadable accessible PDFs.
-
Links: Clear, descriptive link text (no “click here”).
-
Motion: Avoid auto-playing audio/video and excessive animation.
Audio/Video accessibility
-
Captions: All new video content captioned; Live shows use live captions (best-effort) with a human-reviewed caption file posted within 48 hours.
-
Transcripts: Full transcripts for radio/podcasts within 48 hours; earlier for breaking items when feasible.
-
ASL/CART: Available for live virtual events with 72 hours’ notice.
-
Audio description: Provided upon request for major visuals; we also write descriptively in scripts.
-
Slide decks & documents: Posted in accessible formats when referenced on air.
Events & appearances
-
Physical venues: ADA-compliant entrances, seating, restrooms, and signage whenever we control the venue.
-
Virtual events: Platform tested for captions, keyboard access, and screen reader compatibility.
-
Notice: If you need specific accommodations, tell us at least 72 hours before the event.
Requesting an accommodation
-
Email: Karen@KarenHartleyNagle.com with the subject “Accommodation Request”.
-
Include: the page/episode/event, what you need, and your preferred contact.
-
We acknowledge within 1 business day and confirm arrangements or alternatives.
If we fall short
-
Send a note to Karen@KarenHartleyNagle.com with the subject “Accessibility Feedback”.
-
We log issues, prioritize fixes, and report material improvements on our Accessibility Updates page.
Third-party platforms
-
Some accessibility features depend on platforms (e.g., Spotify, YouTube, social apps). If a platform falls short, we provide the most accessible alternative on KarenHartleyNagle.com (e.g., downloadable transcript, captioned version, or alternate player).
Privacy
-
Accommodation and correction requests are handled confidentially and stored securely. We publish no personal details without consent.
